Things I Miss From My Childhood

I've been too busy. What can I say? But, I was researching blogging the other day and thinking about what makes a good blog. One author reminded me that a blog can be nostalgic, and it's great if there are little bits of insight along the way. So, I was thinking about my childhood and things I miss. Here's a list:
  • Swinging - I used to pretend I was a pilot flying a little plane, then I would jump out when the recess bell rang.
  • Apples with sugar - Great grandma Minnie used to cut up apples and put sugar on them for us. Almost a healthy snack.
  • My front porch on 3rd St. - The hours we spent playing out there... Hey, we have a nice front porch again. I wonder if Corbyn will play out there someday.
  • Riding bikes around town - it was much safer back then.
  • Stacking wood with my grandpa - he always set up "jobs" for me to help him with.
  • Throwing toys and stuffed animals down the clothes shoot.
  • Going to our "cousins" house to play while the parents played cards.
  • Saturday morning cartoons - They used to be good.
Looney Tunes, Thunder Cats, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Superfriends (I used to have to defer to my brother a lot), Smurfs (hey, they are staging a comeback), Snorks, Scooby Doo, Danger Mouse, Carebears, Wuzzles, Gummi Bears (yeah, not just soft candy), Garfield and Friends, Chip and Dale, Shirt Tales, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Captain Caaaavvveee Maaaaan, Tom and Jerry, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, Inspector Gadget, Muppet Babies, Jonny Quest, Pink Panther, Punky Brewster (not really a cartoon, I guess), Popeye, Richie Rich, and of course Schoolhouse Rock... just to name a few.

Not a fan of Thundarr the Barbarian, and really not a fan of Space Ghost. What a moron.
I'm sure there are more things that I could come up with, but it's been a long time since I've even thought about my childhood. I'll see my brother this weekend. Maybe we should reminisce a little.
