Tennis Shoes - for Actually Playing Tennis

I needed some new tennis shoes. Not just cross trainers, but shoes to actually play tennis in. Those are hard to come by. When I coached tennis I made sure I had shoes with a toe guard type thing so that when I drug my toe to serve or even hit a forehand, I didn't ruin my shoes too quickly. Then, when I quit coaching, I thought, "I can buy whatever kind of cross trainers I want now. They can look cool, and not be functional." So, I did. I got some cute light blue ones that were pretty cool, until I started playing tennis for fun again. And then, I got a hole in the toe.

So, after having realized that I truly do love playing tennis, I need to have shoes with a toe guard. So, I went to the outlet mall. No luck at 3 stores. I went to the mall, further away. 4 more stores, including Dick's Sporting Goods, no luck. All they have anywhere are Keds which I despise for tennis -big blocky heavy plain white shoes. Or, the kind which have hardly anything to them - and no toe guard at all, also white, or maybe white and pink. No thanks.

All the little shoe salesmen said, "yeah, no, we don't really carry shoes for playing tennis. You'd think they'd be easier to find, but no." "Try online." So I did. I found some. And they are cool. They should be here next week. I hope they fit becaues I'm picky and without trying them on, well, I'm a little worried. Sure I can send them back if they don't feel right, but then what? Maybe I'll have to design my own shoes for tennis. Yeah, I'll work on that.
